Description

High-silica glass-fiber braided rope in eight diameters

IKSONIC high-silica glass-fiber braided rope is available in eight listed diameters: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 and 12 mm. The white braided form provides a choice of cross-sectional sizes for industrial component and packing enquiries. The 12 mm option is designated braided rope packing; the other seven options are designated braided rope.

Select the diameter together with the intended arrangement and required length. A matching nominal size is only one part of specifying a cord or packing component: the available space, contact surfaces and installation requirements also need to be defined. Each diameter is a separate selection, rather than a mixed-size assortment.

Matching the diameter to the installation

For a replacement, record the intended rope size separately from the dimensions of the surrounding groove, channel or retaining arrangement. A used piece may be flattened, compressed or damaged, so its measured width may not represent the original rope diameter. An equipment drawing or an unworn reference section can help define the replacement requirement.

  • Available space: provide the width, depth and shape of the receiving feature, including any corners or changes in direction.
  • Contact and retention: describe how the rope is located and held in the assembly. Identify the mating surfaces and any required end or joint arrangement.
  • Length: state the required finished length for each piece and the total quantity. Confirm any cutting or packaging requirement separately.
  • Diameter control: state the acceptable size range and any specified measurement method when fit is critical.
  • Replacement identity: include the equipment part number or drawing revision where available, without assuming that a similar-looking braid is an exact replacement.

Rope packing and application requirements

The 12 mm rope-packing designation identifies an offered option, rather than a pressure or sealing-performance rating. For a packing enquiry, describe the equipment, the contact medium, the joint geometry and whether the interface is stationary or moving. Any required compression, leakage limit or acceptance test should come from the application specification.

Where temperature exposure, chemical contact or electrical properties affect suitability, include the actual conditions and required test criteria. The material description alone does not define a service rating for the finished assembly. This range is not offered with a lifting, climbing, rescue or load-bearing rating.

Ordering and receiving information

State the selected diameter, required total length and the number of separate pieces or rolls needed. Confirm the supply unit, roll length and packaging arrangement before placing an order; the reel photographs do not establish a standard supplied length or pack quantity. If more than one diameter is required, list the length and quantity for each size separately.

For repeat orders, retain the agreed diameter, material requirement, supply format and application reference together. On receipt, compare the identification and supplied size with the order details before installation. Follow the equipment specification for fitting and retention rather than applying a general compression or fastening setting to every diameter.
