Viton® material description

Viton® is the trade name for Chemours brand fluorocarbons, also known as FKM. FKM is a well-known high-performance rubber that has excellent resistance to high temperatures, ozone, weather, oxygen, mineral oils, fuels, hydraulic oils, aromatics, and many organic solvents and chemicals.

Viton® variants include: Viton®A, Viton®B, Viton®F, Viton®GLT, Viton®GFLT, Viton®Extreme (aka Viton®ETP)

Viton® common type (A: 66% fluorine), medium fluorine content type (B, GBL: 67 to 68.5% fluorine), high fluorine content type (F, GF: 70% fluorine), improved low temperature flexibility type (GLT, GFLT) and excellent resistance to more chemicals and solvents (Viton® ETP Extreme). We can also provide excellent acid and alkali resistant parts made from Viton® TBR. Viton® O-rings may also exhibit metal detectable changes while retaining the same mass as ordinary Viton® O-ring compounds.

Curing system
Standard FKM O-ring compounds are bisphenol cured. Peroxide-cured FKM O-ring compounds have better resistance to acidic solutions than bisphenol-cured ones and can replace light curing used in acidic solutions. In some lubricants, the addition of organic amides or amines, or the choice of peroxide-cured systems, Viton® O-rings will be better than bisphenol-cured systems.

Standard low temperature: -26 ° C (-15 ° F)
Standard high temperature: 232 ° C (450 ° F)
