Description
Custom Spring-Energized Seals
IKSONIC custom spring-energized seals are offered through model and specification enquiries. The seal form shown combines an annular seal body with an internal spring element. Select the profile, dimensions and material together as a complete configuration, whether you are identifying a replacement or working from a new assembly drawing.
Material enquiries can address PEEK, PTFE or fluoroelastomer as separate requested configurations. These material names do not describe a single universal compound, and the same appearance does not establish that different seals use the same material. Include the required material and grade with your model or drawing reference so the proposed configuration can be identified clearly.
Enquiry options
Choose the enquiry route that best matches the information you have. These are consultation choices rather than fixed dimensional variants. Confirm the model, configuration and quantity before ordering.
| Enquiry choice | Information to send |
|---|---|
| Standard-model enquiry before ordering | Provide the required model, dimensions and quantity for review before placing an order. |
| Custom-model enquiry before ordering | Provide a drawing or defined configuration, material requirements and quantity for a custom enquiry. |
| Enquiry using your model reference | Send the model reference you can provide, together with identifying dimensions and any available drawing. |
Product and configuration reference
| Item | Specification approach |
|---|---|
| Product family | Spring-energized annular seals |
| Ordering basis | Model identification or custom specification enquiry |
| Material enquiries | PEEK, PTFE and fluoroelastomer; identify the requested material separately for each configuration |
| Seal dimensions | Provide the required dimensions and their units, with a drawing or clearly labelled sketch where possible |
| Profile and orientation | Identify the section shape, spring position and intended installed orientation |
| Spring requirements | Include any specified spring form, material or part reference |
| Quantity | State the quantity for each model or configuration |
Identify the seal and its installation space
A ring diameter alone does not define a spring-energized seal. Include the inside diameter, outside diameter and axial width or height, and label the features being measured. If a drawing uses a different convention, retain its dimension labels and units rather than rearranging them into an unexplained size code.
The seal section and the surrounding installation space should be considered together. Provide the groove or housing details and the mating component dimensions when they are available. A cross-sectional sketch is particularly useful for showing which surface the seal contacts, where the spring sits and how the seal is oriented in the assembly.
For replacement identification, photograph both faces and the side profile in addition to recording dimensions. Note whether the measurements were taken from an unused sample or a removed part. An existing seal may have changed shape in service, so distinguish measured values from the original nominal dimensions when you have both.
Keep material enquiries distinct
For a PEEK enquiry, identify the required PEEK specification and the component or seal section to which it applies. For a PTFE enquiry, include any specified compound or filler requirements. For a fluoroelastomer enquiry, provide the required compound designation or existing part specification if known. Do not substitute one material family for another on the basis of colour or a similar ring shape.
If the assembly drawing controls the spring as well as the seal body, include both requirements. A photograph can help identify the visible arrangement, but it does not replace a material specification or a dimensioned section. Keep each requested material and profile under a separate part reference when comparing configurations.
Details for a complete quotation enquiry
| Required detail | What to include |
|---|---|
| Model or drawing reference | Existing part designation, drawing revision, or a clear sketch for the requested seal |
| Dimensions | Seal and installation-space dimensions, units, tolerances and the measurement method where relevant |
| Section and orientation | Cross-sectional profile, contact location, spring arrangement and installed direction |
| Materials | Requested seal-body material, any controlled compound details and spring specification |
| Assembly information | Mating materials, type of movement, working medium and relevant operating conditions |
| Order and acceptance | Quantity per configuration and any drawing review, sample or inspection requirements |
The product photographs show seal examples and viewing angles, not a dimensioned selection chart or a mixed-size package. The required model, material and quantity should be recorded in the enquiry rather than inferred from the number or colour of the rings pictured.
Discuss your seal configuration
Contact IKSONIC with your model reference or drawing, dimensions and quantity. If you need help identifying an existing seal, include its measured size and clear profile photographs. The standard-model, custom-model and model-reference enquiry routes all begin with the information needed to define the requested part.
